Garmin Fenix 8 Beta 23.26: Fixes & Known Issues
What Beta 23.26 Actually Changes
Garmin Beta 23.26 is at 100% OTA for enrolled Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Pro, Fenix 8 Pro MicroLED, Fenix E, Tactix 8, Quatix 8, and Enduro 3 watches. It is a small follow-up to 23.25, not a feature release.
Phone-assistant recognition and music volume are the two named fixes. The catch is an acknowledged Indoor Climb crash; Garmin tells people who use that activity profile to wait for the next beta.

Beta 23.26 Changelog From 23.25
Garmin lists four changes in the 23.26 delta:
- Restores phone-assistant recognition of voice commands.
- Corrects volume adjustment in the music app.
- Applies other minor fixes.
- Updates translations.
The assistant item covers failed voice-command recognition; the notes name no particular phone, OS, language, or assistant. The music item is limited to volume adjustment inside the music app.
Earlier Branch Fixes Shown on the Same Page
The announcement also repeats the 23.24 changes since 23.22. These arrive for anyone moving up from that older beta, but they were not introduced in 23.26:
- Prevents a reset while an activity is being saved.
- Prevents a reset after a spectator message arrives.
- Restores command responses after the Wake Word triggers.
- Improves detection of the Wake Word.
- Corrects translation problems.
- Stops Tactix timer tones from sounding in Stealth Mode.
- Revises L-band satellite-orientation data for Pro models.
The Tactix line applies only to Tactix 8. The repeated block also contains a Pro-only L-band item, so individual fixes vary even though Garmin publishes the branch in one announcement.
The page jumps from a 23.26-from-23.25 block to a 23.24-from-23.22 block. It does not reproduce the 23.25 changes, so this is not a complete 23.xx version history.
For an earlier Pro-only release, see our Fenix 8 Pro and MicroLED Beta 23.19 changelog.
The final line mentions blank data fields on the map split screen for MIP devices. It has no version label, so we are keeping it separate rather than assigning it to 23.26.
Known Issues and Beta Limits
Indoor Climb Can Crash
Garmin has confirmed a crash while recording an Indoor Climb activity. A fix is planned for a later version, and Garmin advises Indoor Climb users to wait for the next beta.
ECG and Dive Are Disabled
This beta cycle disables ECG and Dive. Both remain available on compatible watches running live software, and Garmin says they will return to beta builds as the branch approaches a live release.
Is Beta 23.26 Worth Installing?
Install 23.26 if you are already testing the 23.xx branch and have hit the assistant or music-volume bugs. It also carries forward the activity-save, spectator-message, and Wake Word fixes from 23.24.
Wait if you record Indoor Climb, need ECG or Dive, or simply want stable firmware. There is no new headline feature here to offset those beta limitations.
How to Install Beta 23.26
Only enrolled watches receive the beta. On the watch:
- Keep the watch connected through Garmin Connect Mobile or Wi-Fi.
- Open Menu > System > Software Update.
- Select Check For Updates.
If the update does not download or install, use our Garmin software update troubleshooting guide.
How to Leave Beta or Return to Live Software
To opt out, follow Garmin's Public Beta instructions:
- Sign in to the Garmin Connect website.
- Select the device icon in the upper-right corner.
- Open Device Settings for the enrolled watch.
- Select Leave Beta Software Program.
- Read the opt-out information and select Opt Out.
Opting out and backdating are separate actions. To return an installed watch to live firmware, use the files and instructions attached to Garmin's earliest 23.xx beta announcement.
Garmin notes two consequences on the 23.26 announcement page:
- The watch cannot download the same beta again after backdating; it must wait for a newer beta.
- ECG must be set up again on compatible watches.
Use only the backdate package for your exact watch model.
Does 23.26 Change Connect IQ or GameraSnap Support?
Neither the 23.26 delta nor the repeated 23.24 list mentions Connect IQ or camera remotes. Nothing in those notes changes our GameraSnap support guidance.
Check our supported Garmin watches list for documented GameraSnap device support. When reporting app behavior on beta firmware, include both the firmware and app versions.
